11i: Oracle 11i and SSO Whitepaper Updated

Oracle has updated the "Integrating Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i with Oracle Internet Directory and Oracle Single Sign-On" whitepaper from build 3.2 to build 4.0.  This whitepaper is a detailed description of implementing Single-Sign-On for Oracle Applications 11i.  It is one of the more useful Oracle documents, especially since it covers multiple scenarios and provides details on limitations.  The scenarios include Oracle-only implementations as well as using third party identity management solutions.

The whitepaper corresponds with Metalink Note ID 233436.1 "Installing Oracle Application Server 10g with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i", which is the actual installation instructions.

For organizations already running a single sign-on solution (e.g., Microsoft Active Directory, SiteMinder, iPlanet), integrating Oracle Applications 11i can provide benefits in terms of single sign-on and user terminations.  However, the current LDAP integration is limited and does not provide meaningful user provisioning or synchronization.  The solution requires the implementation of Oracle Internet Directory regardless of the third party LDAP solution, so beware of additional hardware, software, and implementation costs.
